What's In A Name?

Grace Adoption, Inc. Logo

GRACE

GRACE is an acronym that stands for Grandparents Revealing Accepting Christ’s Eternal and then we have the word Adoption which we will talk about in the next newsletter.  Let me break up letter by letter to explain.

GGrandparents
This draws attention to the group of people that we focus on (Senior citizens, the elderly).  When forming the entity, it was told to me that whatever the name of the entity it needed to start with something that, if we had a website or any digital media people would be able to locate it easily.  Since our mission is to share Christ and the Love of Christ with those in senior facilities it made sense that GRACE was the Love and the G would stand for grandparents.  Isaiah 46:4 Even to your old age I am He, And even to grey hairs, I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; Even I will carry and will deliver you.

R – Revealing
The definition or the word revealing is “making interesting or significant information known, especially about a person’s attitude or character”.  We are told in Matthew 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick, and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.  In James 1:22 But be doers of the word, and hot hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.

A – Accepting
Accept is an action verb.  The definition is “believe or come to recognize (an opinion, explanation, etc.) as valid or correct.   1 John 1:9 IF we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. John 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God. And Romans 10:9 Because, IF you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.

C – Christ
Christ is the ONLY way!  John 14:6 “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and life. No one comes to the Father except through me.; Revelation 3:20 Behold I stand at the door and knock.  If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and eat with him, and he with me.

E – Eternal
The word “eternal” is an adjective meaning “lasting or existing forever; without end or beginning”.  Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord; And the most familiar verse in the Bible: John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

GRACE - The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 12:9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”,  Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me….Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” And in 2 Timothy 1:9 Who saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which gave us In Christ Jesus before the ages began.  And yet again in Ephesians 4:7 But to each one of us, grace has been given as Christ apportioned it. And another time in Acts 20:24 However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me – the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.

It is only through God’s GRACE that we have the hope of eternal life with HIM!!!

God knows our desire to be loved, to be known, and to have a purpose.  He made us for companionship/relationship.  Isn’t it great that Christ/God has done it all!  We just need to accept, believe, and obey.

Here at GRACE Adoption, my favorite Bible verse is Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ; for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth, to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith, as it is written. The just shall live by faith.

Adoption

This is a continuation of explaining why the name “GRACE Adoption”.  IF you have already read Part I about “GRACE” you are ready to delve into Part 2, “Adoption”.

First, I have a question for you.  Have you thought about where you are going to spend eternity?  Do you care where you spend eternity?  After all eternity is an exceptionally long time!  Did you know that YOU are one who makes the choice of where you want to spend eternity?

I do not know anyone who wants their parents or someone else to choose their friends for them.  Well, God is the same way.  He wants you, but he wants you to decide for yourself because IF you choose HIM, he wants all of you!  Our God is such a loving God that he longs to have a personal relationship with every human being.  He does not want to tell you or I what to do.  IF he wanted that, he could have made us all robots and programed us to do exactly what he wanted.  Because he loves us, he allows each of us to make our own decisions.  We may either choose HIM as LORD and Savior of our lives or choose our own desires.  I must admit, choosing our own desires appears so good on the outside!  Many are fooled by that deception, so no need to feel like you are the only one!  Choosing our own desires comes with consequences that we brought on ourselves, yet many times we want to play the blame game.  Consequences are costly!

It says in Matthew 7:21  “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord! Lord!,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven.

Choosing HIM does not mean that life is always easy or smooth, BUT it does mean that we can trust God in all things.  When we understand that those things we think of as restrictions are really God’s way of protection because of HIS LOVE for us we can find incomprehensible peace and joy.  In accepting HIM, believing in HIM, confessing HIM, and following HIM  you are “Adopted” into HIS family.  With “Adoption” comes salvation (forgiveness of sin and deliverance from condemnation) and all the benefits, including the privileges of heirship and the blessings as being a child of God.  One is “Adopted” into HIS Spiritual family.

The Bible says in the following verses:

Romans 8:23  And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body.

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent for his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.

Romans 8:14-17  For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.  For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of Adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba Father!”  The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs – heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

Ephesians 1:5  He predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will

1 John 3:1  See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!  The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

John1:12-13  But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.”

1 John 3:2-3  “Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.  And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

From the previous verses, you can see in Romans 8 that HIS WORD tells us that we are heirs which means “Adoption” entitles to an inheritance. The Bible says:

  • Ephesians 3:6  This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the Gospel
  • Ephesians 1:11  In him we have obtained an inheritance, having been predestined according to the purpose of him who works all things according to the counsel of his will.
  • Galatians 3:29  If you belong to Christ, then you are Abrahams’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
  • Galatians 4:7  So you are no longer a slave, but God’s child, and since you are his child, God has made you also an heir.
  • Revelations 21:7  “He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.”

So, what is the definition of “Adoption”?  “Adoption” is defined as the act of leaving one’s natural family and entering the privileges and responsibilities of another.

Are you aware that IF you choose adoption, once the legal documents are signed, your adoption decision is final and permanent?  Adoption can not be undone.  It is permanent!  It is the same way with God.

My dad visually accepted Christ 6 days before he left this earth.  What an impact that made!  There is a peace and a joy knowing that he is spending eternity with our heavenly Father instead of in darkness.  GRACE Adoption focuses on senior citizens in senior centers.  Why? Because we want them to know the Love of Christ before they leave this earth, in whatever fashion that may look like with their “Friend”.

Our brochure visually reflects in the GRACE Adoption Logo that the it is only through GRACE that we are Adopted, through Christ (the “t” is a cross) to spend eternity (the “o” is the fish sign for eternity) with HIM.  The outstretched hand is that of Our Heavenly Father’s inviting us to come to HIM.  HIS hand is tenderly holding an elderly person’s hand, ready to welcome one to become one of HIS children.

Our prayer is that GRACE Adoption will help bring Communities together in focusing on our “Senior-Citizens” in Care Centers.   We pray that God will bring those who want to share Christ’s Love with a Senior will give the Gift of their Time to build a caring relationship.  If that is you, please contact us.  If you wish to help financially and in prayer, we welcome it.  If you have talents you wish to bless GRACE Adoption with, please let us know.  Our vision is for GRACE Adoption to be taken throughout the United States with all of us working together sharing the love of Christ with our “senior citizens” in these Senior Care Centers.
